Williamsburg Farmers’ Market. July
Fourth of July at Colonial Williamsburg. A salute to the 13 Colonies, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, a garden party at the Palace, and fireworks at 9:15 p.m. Fireworks viewing open to the public. Garden Party requires admission. Colonial Williamsburg. 800-770-5930.

The Road to Independence: The Southern Campaign. Salute America during an annual Fourth of July event leading up to 2006, the 225th anniversary year of the momentous American victory at Yorktown. Interpretive programs will emphasize the shift of Revolutionary War military action to the Southern colonies in 1780. Visitors can join in military drills and learn about the sacrifices of our nation's founders, including those who signed the Declaration of Independence. Yorktown Victory Center. 888-593-4682.

July
Summer Breeze Concert Series. On Wednesdays in July bring blankets, chairs and even dinner to Duke of Gloucester Street in Merchants Square for performances by local artists ranging from Big Band to jazz to Dixieland music. Concerts start at 6:30pm, but you need to get there earlier to get a good spot. Free. 757-220-7751.
 

August
General McClellan’s 1862 Civil War Headquarters at Harrison’s Landing. Tour Berkeley Plantation, General George McClellan’s headquarters and supply base for 140,000 union soldiers in July and August 1862. This special Civil War Tour takes you through the life and times of the soldier. Includes a conducted tour of Berkeley Plantation’s 1726 manor house, a Civil War museum, film presentation and a visit to the monument where General Daniel Butterfield composed “Taps” during the Civil War. 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. By reservation. September
Bacon's Rebellion Weekend. Evening walking tours will relate the details of Bacon’s Rebellion as they occurred at Jamestown, including a symbolic burning of the town site. September through October
Howl-O-Scream. The creeps come out at night as Howl-O-Scream returns to haunt Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Monstrous mayhem is on hand Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, as this 17th century European-themed adventure park transforms into a “scream” park full of Halloween fun. October
Yorktown Victory Weekend. Special programs and tours help mark the 224th anniversary of the American and French victory at Yorktown. Entrance fee. December
Grand Illumination. Discover Williamsburg during the winter months. Colonial Williamsburg is open year round and some of the most spectacular events occur during the colder season! Grand Illumination kicks off the holiday season with a grand display of fireworks. Christmas in Williamsburg is delightful with decorations and activities for the entire family.
